Call Report Preparation for Beginners

New or inexperienced Call Report preparers can be overwhelmed by all of the information provided in an advanced Call Report class. This session is an introduction to the Call Report and will cover general call report preparation requirements and instructions for those Call Report Schedules that can be prepared using data from the General Ledger and Investment Securities Reports. The class will also cover classification requirements for loan schedule RC-C. It will not cover any other loans schedules, interest rate risk items, or off balance sheet items. A completed risk based capital schedule, RC-R, will be provided, showing each asset by risk weight, but discussion will be limited. The pace will be slower to allow for questions and there will be a case study that will ask the participants to prepare work papers for the Balance Sheet (RC), Income Statement (RI), and Loan Schedule RC-C. The agencies have made extensive revisions over the last few years and additional changes have been approved for the 2008 call report. Revisions to 2008 include separate reporting of 1-4 family residential property, reporting of restructured 1-4 family residential loans, new line items for 1-4 family residential loans in the process of foreclosure, changes to RC-P to include new line items for open end 1-4 family residential mortgage activity, and revisions to RC-Q. In March, 2008 ALL banks will be required to separately report 1-4 residential construction loans and owner occupied non-farm, non-residential real estate loans.
