Fraud/Scam Products

Fraud includes Identity theft, Phishing, Nigerian letters, Online auction scams and good old-fashioned counterfeit checks and credit cards.

Fraud is the fastest-growing crime in America and our Arkansas bankers are fighting back with anti-fraud tactics that have proven results. Education is a key component to help you become more aware of existing scams and trends. Training will help your employees and customers become empowered and more resistant to the increasing number of scams. We will try to keep you aware of the subjects that are of most interest to you in your area. Topics can include identity theft, counterfeit checks, new account fraud and current scams. We will help you find resources to assist you if your bank discovers ID theft or other scams are in your town. You will learn what suspicious acts should be reported and to whom.

Efforts are continuing to facilitate communications between law enforcement, prosecutors and banks regarding fraud.

Thumbprint Signature ProgramThumbprint Signature Program
Your simple solution to check fraud. The Thumbprint Signature Program works as a natural deterrent. Customers are asked to place an impression of their thumbprint on the check using a small, inkless touch pad. Robbery Rewards Program
The ABA Robbery Rewards program offers rewards for information leading to the identification, arrest and/or conviction of persons who commit robberies and other crimes against commercial banks. By working dire ctly with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, this program serves as a deterrent to bank robberies.

In the event of a robbery, any witness that provides information that the FBI deems to have been of value in the apprehension and indictment is eligible for a reward. All requests for rewards must come directly from the FBI to the ABA.

ABA encourages bankers to inform both law enforcement and the media that a reward is available and that informants remain anonymous.
