ELS Spotlight With Ashley Newman

Ashley Newman is a Mortgage Originator for Centennial Bank in Conway, Arkansas.

My job responsibilities consist of working with customers that are in need of all types of mortgage financing. I assist them with mortgage needs including secondary market, construction, portfolio and lot loans. I guide the customers by providing a wide-range of loan options to choose from including grants and down payment assistance programs, and keep everyone informed of the progress of the loan and strive to make closing dates a top priority. No two loans are alike, so it’s my job to help the customer feel comfortable and stay informed.

What is the most important leadership lesson that you’ve learned?

The most important lesson to me is to be a team player. The team is most effective when everyone is contributing equally. I believe being able to utilize everyone’s strengths makes the process and outcome more efficient for our customers.

What is the greatest advice you have ever been given?

My dad once told me “do everything you can to get the job done”. Being in mortgage gives exposure to many different circumstances. I always try to think outside the box and research all options to present the customer with the best opportunity.

How has leadership changed in 2021?

Due to COVID-19 most of the work flow and communication is done electronically. Trainings and workshops are done online and communication with customers is by phone or email. In person interaction is limited. I feel it is important to follow up with personal phone calls, hand written cards and emails to keep a personal/meaningful experience.

The ELS Spotlight is an ongoing series to highlight our Emerging Leaders from around Arkansas.
