ELS Spotlight With August Rusher

August Rusher is President of the Bentonville/Rogers Market for Generations Bank.

What is the most important leadership lesson that you’ve learned?

I learned a long time ago to just be yourself. I believe that the straightforward, authentic and honest approach is one of the best ways to earn the respect from those that you lead and it will be more likely for you to receive the same approach in return.

What’s your biggest leadership struggle?

Delegation of duties. I tend to take on tasks myself when I should delegate some of them to others.

How did leadership change in 2020?

This year has required that we get creative in the way we communicate with each other. I think keeping the constant and open lines of communication whether it be by zoom, phone call, etc. is going to be imperative to continue to be an effective leader in these times where you may not be in the office together.

The ELS Spotlight is an ongoing series to highlight our Emerging Leaders from around Arkansas.
