ELS Spotlight With Justin Zimmerman

Justin Zimmerman is Vice President of Retail Banking for First Service Bank in Clinton, Arkansas. I am responsible for the direction of all our branches throughout the state of Arkansas while leading the managers of these branches to success. I am also responsible for promoting a culture that meets the standards of our associates and customers. I am surrounded daily by people that I am encouraged by and help me be the best version of myself and for First Service Bank!

What is the most important leadership lesson that you’ve learned?

The most important leadership lesson I have learned is to listen. It’s important to gather all aspects of certain situations and to allow people to be heard before making decisions or giving directions. When you listen, gather all the facts so you are more prepared to make fair and consistent decisions.

What is the most effective daily habit you possess?

To be grateful. We live in challenging times that none of us have ever faced before. To have a job, a healthy family and a roof over my head are the first things that make me embrace a sense of gratitude.

What is the greatest advice you have ever been given?

The greatest advice ever given to me would have to be from a long time mentor who always told me to believe in myself and not sell myself short. While these words may sound simple, she not only said them, she helped me to realize them and put them into action. Good mentors and people that truly invest in you are hard to come by so hang on to those that do!

The ELS Spotlight is an ongoing series to highlight our Emerging Leaders from around Arkansas.
