ELS Spotlight With Tammy Roper

Tammy Roper is a Community Development Senior Representative with Arvest Bank in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

As Community Development Senior Representative, Tammy develops and maintains strong relations with community groups and entities focused on affordable housing, organizations that target low to moderate income (LMI) communities, organizations that facilitate and encourage small business along with entities and organizations that primarily serve majority minority populations. Tammy coordinates and oversees various Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) activities within a defined market to ensure compliance with lending, investment and service guidelines established by Arvest. She is responsible for helping the bank meet its CRA goals and fair lending objectives. She also serves as a resource for associates in their designated service areas on CRA related topics, and partners with retail and commercial lending for business development opportunities.

What is the most important leadership lesson that you’ve learned?

Asking the right questions to gain the most insight. Listening to those around you, assessing the needs of your audience and peers to provide the best experience for all involved.

What is the greatest advice you have ever been given?

Before committing to anything, evaluate if it adds value to your purpose or will it take away energy. Time is a precious thing we often take for granted, use it wisely.
