Facilitated Online Training

American Bankers Association's national curriculum includes more than 100 programs on a range of banking topics with core courses in banking and business fundamentals and a range of additional topics.

Visit the marketplace for a list of courses scheduled in the coming months. Here you will be able to register for the course as well.

How They Work

Each Instructor-Led Online Course is facilitated by an instructor who guides the class through the course and provides feedback on your assignments. Every week, your instructor posts a new assignment. Assignments may include:

  • Reading a chapter in your textbook or online
  • Completing a short assignment and either sending the assignment via email to your instruction or posting it on the electronic class Discussion Board
  • Taking a self-check text to verify your understanding of the material

In addition, you also will have some assignments where you collaborate with other students using electronic discussion boards and email. You complete each assignment during the week, but at your convenience.

Exams: The semester-length courses last for 16 weeks, including a week dedicated to the midterm examination and the final examination. Exams and the quizzes for each assignment are taken online and proctored by someone in your bank. You will need to find someone to proctor your exams. Your overall grade for the class will be based on a combination of your performance on the weekly assignments, class participation, mid-term examination and the final examination. Courses that are less than 16 weeks in length have at least one graded measurement of learning, typically a final exam.

Cancellation and Transfer Policy

Students who need to transfer sessions or cancel enrollment must send notification by email. There is a 100% refund for any cancellation request made before the start of the class and upon the return of the textbook to ABA. Refunds will be made, less a $100 cancellation fee, if requests are received within 10 business days from the start of the course and after the return of the textbook, if application. Please include your packing slip or order number with the return of your textbook. Shipping and handling fees are not refundable. There are no refunds for cancellations received by ABA more than 10 business days after the start of the class.

Students may request a transfer, at no cost, before the start of the course. After the start date and before the class end date students may request a transfer one time for a fee of $100.00. Once the course has ended, students may no longer transfer. If they want to re-take the course, they must re-register and pay the entire registration fee (minus the cost of the textbook, if the same book is being used again). If the textbook changes, the student must purchase the new book with the course.
