ELS Spotlight With PJ Harness

PJ Harness is a Loan Officer for Stone Bank Agri Loan Center in Mountain View, AR. My job responsibilities include originating new loans (mainly agriculture and FSA related), servicing existing loans, and staying up-to-date on all changes with the Farm Service Agency.

What is the most important leadership lesson that you’ve learned?
The most important leadership lesson I’ve learned is to always remember where you came from. I started in banking as a loan assistant and being an officer now I am responsible for my loan assistant. I try and remember what it was like to be in their shoes and be aware that it takes good teamwork between the assistant and the officer to make the ship run as smooth as possible.

What is the greatest advice you have ever been given?
The greatest advice that I was ever given came from my father. He always instilled in me as a I was growing up that hard work beats out talent any day of the week. I will always work as hard as I can to assure that I am at the top of my game, regardless of what the task is.

What is the most effective daily habit you possess?
I feel my best daily habit I possess revolves around my organization skills. I try and plan out the majority of the tasks I want to complete for the day first thing each morning. Typically, other things come into play that aren’t on my original list, but it gives me a good schedule of what I want to try and accomplish each day.
