Tara Mallett is an AVP/Mortgage Loan Originator with First Community Bank in Conway, Arkansas.
Previously in my career I have been retail manager and business development officer. My job now as mortgage loan originator is to put my clients in homes, and to be helpful and available throughout the buying and/or refinancing process. It’s just that simple.
What is the most important leadership lesson you’ve learned?
I learned from managing staff that I should never ask them to do something I would not be willing to do as well.
What is the greatest advice you have been given?
You have to take the good with bad. Rarely does a situation come along where everything is perfect. We joke in the office “ almost everything has a little hair on it.”
What does effective leadership look like to you?
Each person has strengths and weaknesses. As a manager it is your job to find build a team where these fit together like puzzle pieces. Everyone can’t be perfectly round.
