Five Minutes with Faviola Alba

Faviola Alba | SVP, Community Lending Manager | Arvest Bank | Little Rock

Tell us about your early career...looking back, how would you describe yourself?
I would describe myself as eager to learn; something that remains true today. I love learning new things. Getting the details about new products and services we can use to help customers reach their financial goals is always a highlight. I was also eager to learn from my managers and associates in different roles. I knew it was important to expand my knowledge and that doing so would expand my options for career growth with Arvest.

I always start my day with...
I always start my day with being thankful and appreciative of the new day. Then, I prepare for the day by reviewing important tasks I want to accomplish, both personally and professionally.

What’s the difference between a boss and a leader?
The main difference between a boss and a leader is the way the person approaches people and situations. A leader is inclusive; a person who encourages and empowers associates to learn and strive for their goals, and then stays involved, offering support along the way. A leader recognizes successes and practices good listening.

What are you most proud of regarding your leadership at Arvest Bank?
I am most proud of leading the expansion of consumer lending training. When I started 6 ½ years ago, the lending team consisted of approximately 20 lenders and five assistants. Now the team includes approximately 150 trained associates within different departments.

What are three things still left on your bucket list?
The three things on my bucket list are: Visit key landmarks in Mexico, travel to Rome and attend a professional figure skating event in person.
